The set for the Late Late Show (2005) was designed by Marcella Power of the Production Design Department in RTE. The set had a ‘deconstructed’ quality to it with references to architects like Zaha Hadid.
The set comprised of two areas – a ‘chat’ area and a LE (light entertainment) area. The LE area was backed with a tall curved and twisted structure that was wrapped with a jetted digital print. This print was punctuated with pigmy lights. The ‘chat’ area was backed with trucked walls (on castors). These walls were covered with Rosco screen, polycarbonate, or scenic canvas.
The ros (rostrum / stage) was manufactured from box metal and clad in plywood. The plywood was either carpeted or laminated with black Formica.
